Frequently asked questions

How small can a hole be?

Large holes are cut by hand with a hole saw (up to Ø152) or nibbled, and are at least Ø30 mm. Smaller holes are drilled screw holes: Ø4.5 (M4), Ø5.5 (M5), Ø6.5 (M6), Ø8.5 (M8) or Ø10.5 (M10).

How close to the edge can a hole be?

There must be at least 20 mm between the edge of the hole and the edge of the plate, or the fold of a cover. Between two holes also 20 mm. The configurator tells you straight away if it is too tight.

How large can a plate or cover be?

A flat plate up to 2500 × 1250 mm. A cover is folded on a manual folding machine and can be up to 1200 mm long, with a skirt of 15 to 150 mm. We fold stainless steel up to 1.5 mm, steel and aluminium up to 2 mm.

Do I give the outside or the inside size?

For a flat plate it is always the outside size. For a cover you choose: the outside size of the cover, or the inside size that has to fit over your shaft or chimney. For an inside size the configurator adds the sheet thickness.

How are the corners of a cover made?

As standard with 20 mm tabs that are folded inwards and spot-welded, so the corner is closed and the outside size is exact. You can also choose open corners.

Which material for a chimney top plate?

Ventichim recommends 304 stainless steel for an outdoor top plate. At the coast, or where condensate from a condensing boiler can reach the plate, we recommend 316L stainless steel. Aluminium is not suitable where hot flue gases touch the plate.

Can the plate be coloured?

Yes, we powder coat in the colours most asked for on chimneys: RAL 9005 jet black, 7021 black grey, 7016 anthracite grey, 7022 umbra grey, 8019 grey brown, 8012 red brown, 9007 grey aluminium, 9006 white aluminium, 9016 traffic white and 9010 pure white, in matt textured, matt or gloss. The price per piece includes the coating; a one-off set-up charge of € 50 is added per order. Powder coating adds 5 working days.

Do the prices include VAT, and do I get my discount?

These are net prices per piece, excluding VAT and delivery. Made-to-measure work is always net: your webshop customer discount does not apply to it. The price per piece drops with larger quantities, as shown in the row under the price.

Hole table

Dimensions in mm. Large holes are cut by hand (hole saw up to Ø152, larger ones nibbled) and are therefore at least Ø30, with 20 mm to the edge or the fold and 20 mm between two holes. Screw holes are drilled. For a cover, B × L is the outside size of the top face and H the outside height of the skirt.
